I actually dozed off while hubby was driving.
He just tried to touch me lightly and I instantly woke up and was greeted by this sight.
This is the metasequoia forest road.
The view might remind you of Korean dramas you might have already seen..
Oh, tourists could rent bikes they could use inside the inner road
but we just left after getting the picture below as I was still
tired from our long walk at Naejangsan.
I was also reserving my energy for the next spot.
Not too far away is the Bamboo Forest,
a favorite location of Korean Movie producers.
I think a scene for Lee Jun Ki's Il-Jimae was also taken here.
The Bamboo Forest Gallery.
I just found the prices outrageous, kkkk...
You can taste their bamboo flavored ice cream. Not for free.
There's also a coffee shop at the upper floor for those who want to get warm or chill out.
What I loved most about the forest is the cool refreshing air,
the sound of the leaves against the wind,
and this yellow earth road.
We tried following a path leading to a "bamboo village experience"
only to come to a deadend.
It irritated me a lot, really.
I was already so hungry and tired but we had no choice.
So we walked back to the main entrance and immediately headed to the parking area
and line of restaurants.
We entered the most inviting one. I really wanted to try their featured dishes shown on arirang tv.
One order of the dish costs 10,000won.
But as always around the area, we had to order for 2.
We couldn't have different dishes at a time.
We couldn't order a very elaborate one as I'm suffering from heart burn.
Husband also complains about me forcing him to eat much, kkk
I expected a lot from this one as we were promised 18 side dishes.
Again, I was a bit disappointed.
The stew was served late. So I thought maybe it'd be a special one, aside from the rice, of course.
But guess what it was, doenjang jiggae!!! Inayan!!!
This rice might remind you of a Dae Jang Geum scene.
It's delicious but the bamboo shoots side dish was blah.
I expected so much from the restaurant.
I told Alex we have a better and really delicious way of cooking bamboo shoots.
Just across the bamboo forest is the Gwanbang Jerim riverbank protection forest.
Trees were planted along the Damyang river during the Joseon dynasty period to protect the villages
that suffered a series of annual floods.
The 1.2km section boasts of trees aged over 200 years.
Again, tourists can hire bikes here...
Next, we headed to what I believed was a Queen Seon Dook episode shoot location.
It's the place where they took the scene when Seon Dook was supposed to meet up with Bidam.
It was a beautiful scene/sight..
I couldn't remember anymore what actuallysurrounded the place.
They were either spring blossoms or autumn leaves.
When we reached the parking lot, we were were told that it would take us
about 30-40 minutes to get to the spot.
We'd already paid for entrance fees but Alex thought the long walk
going back and forth would be too much for me.
We sadly left the place....
From the navigation, he finally saw the site for the bamboo village experience.
We went back, drove again for another 30mins.
Good thing that on our way there, we met some participants for a "run" joined by
locals and foreigners alike...
because upon reaching the site, we were only greeted by this...
Still under completion....
The woman at the ticket booth told us there's nothing much to see except the gazebos....
and yet they were asking for 2,000 (or 2,500) won entrance fees already.. grrr...
We also just took this picture and left immediately.
Not too far away was this Myeongnangjeong Pavilion.
An official, Son Sun (1493-1582) built it after retiring from his post.
It's a histoical place where he discussed national affairs, studied with
and taught many popular scholars.
After this, husband and I had a heated discussion.
That's because we were supposed to head to Boseong green tea fields further south.
But he saw a great place in Jeollabukdo from a toursim info site the day before
and changed his mind.
He promised to bring me to Boseong
but he insisted I'd appreciate the place he'd take me to the following day very much...
So we headed back to Jeollabukdo (North Jeolla Province).
I was painfully scratching it on his face that I was very disappointed.
So he stopped the car here and bought me persimmons...
and when he saw me smile, he asked me to accompany him down here...
It's his favorite view: mountain and water...
Although we encountered disappointments with the other sites
we wanted to see, we still had a good day at Jeollanamdo.
The travel was quite long.. So I know
it would be just a dream again for me to see the Boseong green tea fields.
It would be just a "field" or "plantation" for some
but I used to drink green tea a lot before getting pregnant
And there's so much more to experience there
for green tea lovers like me
ohter than just looking at the fields and taking pictures...
LOL
