K Celebration's "BabyBond Couture Nursing Sash Review & Giveaway!"

Sooo late post..

I thought I've already finished blogging about this wonderful giveaway by Kero.
But here's to hoping I still could somehow meet the deadline...
ㅎ,ㅎ

~~~~***~~~~
I definitely would like to breastfeed my baby and it's just so amazing to know there are actually great products out there that support us, women or moms, very well...
I really want to have the BabyBond Nursing Sash reviewed because while malls or department stores here have already set up nursing rooms, it would still be (a little) difficult  to discreetly give in to my Baby's demand when we're in other public places.  Also when family and friends are visiting, or when we are visiting, it would still be nice to be able to use something that's very convenient, comfortable and fashionable when feeding the baby while socializing, hehehehe... Husband also likes to travel a lot so it would be really nice to have this sash wherever we go...
Being a "mom-to-be,"  I only rely on my Mom and other Moms' experiences and advices about what things to do, use or get for my baby and me.
Mommy sites are also a great help.  I regularly visit  blogs and continuously search and read about good products out there for both mother and child.
Honestly, there are so many products I'd like to buy or try but I'm controlling the urge to buy a lot at the moment. Hubby and I already agreed I'd be a SAHM for at least 2 years so I might not really need some of the "must have" or try products.  I'm just so happy for the opportunity of having a chance to win a great nursing product. But win or lose, I still want to share this giveaway or great review of the BabyBond Couture Nursing Sash .
Kero's review of the fashionable Mom nursing accessory:
The nursing sash can also serve as a belly band. It is adjustable creating a custom fit as your body changes after the baby arrives. When worn as a sash, it functions like a nursing top - covering Mom but not the baby - so that Mother and child can converse, socialize, with unhindered eye-contact. When worn like a belt under your shirt, it functions like a belly band. It rolls up in a self storing pouch and the stylish black color means it can complement your entire wardrobe.
Kero will be giving away the product she was sent to review. She will also be including a Christmas backpack suitable for ages 1-3..  Isn't she great?
Three Weeks to Go.. (+ 21 days)
Merry Christmas!!!
This Day marks our 37th week and it's considered full term already.  Two weeks ago, my OB told me Baby's so healthy that I could already give birth anytime.  As much as we wanted to see her the soonest we could, I still prayed for her to at least wait for her Lola to get settled here or reach the 37th week.
Yesterday morning, I woke up to a very painful  sensation around the lower part of my bump.  It felt like the regular menstrual cramp that I got so nervous.  I stood up, did some breathing exercises while walking around our living room.  It gradually faded and fortunately, I was able to go back to sleep without disturbing either my Mom or Alex.  I just woke up an hour again before we left for my check up, hehe...
As expected, Soo Ae is bigger and heavier than she should be.  The OB said it's just okay but I should control my weight gain now or I'll have difficulty bringing her out via normal delivery.  During the checkup, WORRY was pasted all over Alex' face.  My Mom though kept on smiling and nodding to whatever OB was saying.  Soo Ae is now 6.6lbs and she told Alex that my big brother was 7.7lbs when he came out.  We are six in the family and she said we were all so big but she made it everytime.. kkk... Well, Alex' expression relaxed a bit..  Besides, I learned that OBs make their estimations a little bit exaggerated to motivate the Moms.. But with my weight gain? Oh my God, I think the worry on my OBs face was for real... Blame it on my Mom's paksiw and adobo and spinach salad.. hehehe...
For first time parents, we also only want what is best for all of us... so even before, Alex and I already agreed I give birth in this clinic, my OBs clinic...  It's quite near to a bigger hospital so should something happen requiring better attention, the staff could easily refer or bring us to it.
To the far right are laboratories, the DR, and rooms for those who
give birth here.
To the far left of the waiting area is a small recreation for Moms
to entertain or keep their small ones occupied...
I got so excited when I first received my Baby's book...
I always envied my sis-in-law's baby books.. hehe...
My OBs notice to the Gov't which we handed to a Kookmin Bank branch
so I could avail of the benefit for preggy women here...
Since I'm a KB credit card holder, I was immediately given this card
I could use to pay for my monthly visits to the doctor.
In excess of 40,000won (like for the lab tests, etc.), the additional cost
is supposed to be charged to my existing card but hubby pays for it instead.
I now only have about 50,000won in my card out of the 300,000won initial amount.
So this is it... We're now on the waiting game, just like what my friend Bernadette said.  Btw, she just gave birth last Dec. 22, a day before her 39th week(?)... Congratulations Badet!
Just an hour after being told to diet a BIT, here's what I did with my California Roll....
Merry Christmas everyone!
Please help me pray for my safe, normal and healthy delivery..
My only wish this year.....
Thank you very much...
Almost Ready to Burst...
Hi Everyone... Sorry, I didn't mean to go MIA that long.. I don't know why, I just felt so lazy to post anything last week when in fact, I still have a long list of topics I wanna discuss here before the Dday, hehe...
~~~~~*~~~~~

Last sunday night, just a few moments after arriving home from work, Alex came out of our room smiling because of this....

Almost all of the things on my "what to bring list" for Soo Ae are crossed out... My big sis Donna sent me this hot pink overnight Esprit bag I could use as a baby/diaper bag as well.  The compartments inside are great for keeping smaller baby stuffs separately.  Maybe I'll just have to buy a separate baby bottle warmer bag/thermal bag for use when going out so I could use this bag longer. kkk... I definitely don't want to use it for heavy stuffs...  As for my things, especially books to read, I'd just use one of my old overnight bags.

And as the day for bursting is drawing near, I couldn't contain my mixed emotions at times.  I no longer know what keeps me awake most of the nights.... Maybe it's the baby, the usual 3rd trim symptoms, or just the excitement and thoughts about the future...

So I placed these lovely things at the other end of the bed where I could easily see them either lying down or propped up... They put a smile on my face even at the most painful feeling or thought I get...

I remember mentioning on fb one time about how I miss the long character socks being sold along Session Rd. in Baguio City way back then... I started thinking about them when the days and nights got colder.  I didn't expect my best friend from La Trinidad to send me 2 pairs though... It would be fun to have them during labor... hehe...

Thank you very much, Berly....

Also, I would like to thank Ms. Stella for sending me these beautiful stuffs.  I was already thinking of getting an impression kit in which I could have the staff at the hospital imprint Soo Ae's hand and foot..  The book is another good read as well.  I read a page or two before finally retiring to sleep... Thank you for the lovely nursing cover too...

Yesterday morning, I also just realized that since tuesday last week, I stopped reading and watching videos about child birth and other important stuffs I know I have to still learn about... I don't know.. I get so overwhelmed at times... or that I think I've gotten so confident and comfortable since Mama arrived here...
Yes, she's already here..

Funny how she didn't want to leave the airport grounds immediately.. She wanted our photos with the big plant boxes inside to be taken because of the beautiful flowers.

My Mom just knows how to make me feel confident and comfortable with my body.  With the weather alone, she's sacrificing a lot already..  It breaks my heart that I couldn't even get her a piece of ripe papaya or delicous mangos. But she said she can do without them.. She told me not to worry too much.. I mean, not to worry about anything at all so I'll have a healthy and safe delivery.

With her around, I feel like I'm ready... hehe..

MISSHA's Winter 2010 Big Sale!!!

Thanks to my membership, I received a notice from MISSHA yesterday afternoon about their Winter Big Sale, from December 10 to 31. I was at the Lotte Mart at that time but unfortunately, they don't have an outlet in there. To get to the nearest one, I still have to ride a bus and cross a wide avenue. Since we'll be picking up my Mom at the Incheon airport on Wednesday, I might just as well check their products there on sale from 20 to 50% off.  Yes, they have an outlet at the airport.. But yaikks! Mom's ETA is 6a.m.  Uh-oh.. I  hope the shops there are open 24/7.

I thought of blogging about it for those who want to try their products but I completely forgot everything when I got home.  I got so engrossed sewing our door curtains... hehe.. So glad I finished them already when I saw this CF on TV....

I've always wanted to try their mineral makeup products but I just find them a little bit expensive.  As of the moment, I'm actually surviving on the samples my friend got me last year, kkkk...  I'm also so attracted with the great packaging of their powders or foundations.  Like The Face Shop, they also offer shades darker than #23.

For the Missha BB cream fans out there, now is the time for you to hoard too... Since I don't use BB creams anymore, I might just check some for people close to me.  Should my Mom fancy one, why not get it for her instead..kkk....

Missha, AFAIK, has interesting eye makeup products.  Eyeshadows are affordable, attractive and long wearing.  But you have to depot them and buy their palette too. It would be a great chance to try them out.

There are lots of interesting stufs to try from Missha.  I used to buy their hair care products.  I also love the footscrub and body mists I got from them last summer.

If you happen to fancy some Missha products, get them now or you'll end up just like me.  They had this great eyeshadows that got discontinued.  Ah, I'd been always saying "I'll buy them later." until I didn't see them anymore. Really bad...

So have a happy MISSHA Christmas shopping everyone!
Have a great weekend!

Korean's Mundane Qualifications For Ideal Bride and Groom

Student 1: Teacher, how did you meet your husband?  Is he Korean? (Answered to the best of my knowledge and ability...)
Student 2:  Does he speak to you in Korean?
Student 3:  Is he rich?   How about in the Philippines, are you rich there too?
Student 4:  How tall is he? What's his weight?
Student 5:  Do you live in an apartment or a villa? How many pyeong?
Student 6:  How old is he now? How about you, how old are you now teacher...? At what age did you meet?
Student 7:  What's his blood type? What's yours?
... and so on...

Even young Korean girls and boys already have in their minds the "good" qualifications of an ideal husband or wife.  All the while, I was waiting for someone to ask "What is he like? Why did you like him Teacher?"

But no one did.  Maybe here's why....

By Lee Hyo-sik
The Korea Times

What are the qualifications to be an ideal spouse for Korean women? He should be taller than 177 centimeters, work for the government or state-run companies, earn over 43 million won per year and have 240 million won in assets, according to a survey conducted by the matchmaking firm Duo.
What about qualifications for an ideal female spouse? Korean men want to marry a 163.6 centimeters-tall school teacher earning 32 million won per year with 160 million won in assets, Duo said Wednesday.
In a survey of 978 single men and women aged 20-39 nationwide, conducted by the Duo Human Life Research Institute, single women want their future husband to make an average of 43.4 million won a year. It marks a fall from the 45.8 million won salary marked the previous year.
Men also said they would be satisfied if their future wife earned an average annual salary of 32.1 million won, inched down from 32.4 million won in 2009. The institute attributed the drop in expected wages for potential spouses to the prolonged sluggish job market and other unfavorable economic conditions.
About 15.1 percent of male respondents said they want their future wife to be a school teacher, followed by a public sector employee at 13.4 percent and an office worker at 9 percent.
A government employee or public firm worker are the most preferred occupations that women prefer for their future husband at 14.2 percent, followed by an office worker and accountants both at 7.6 percent.
About 33.2 percent of men want to marry a woman who is 3 to 4 years younger, while 38.6 percent of women seek to find men 3 to 4 years older. Only 15.4 percent of male respondents seek to marry a woman older than they are, with only 9 percent of women wanting to marry a younger man.
The institute also said both men (31 percent) and women (29.7 percent) regard personality as the most important factor in marriage. Then, men pay a great deal of attention on the appearance of their future wife, while women put priority on men’s financial standing and occupation.
More than 63 percent of men would like to tie the knot when they are between 29 and 32, with 59.2 percent of women wanting to get married from 27 to 30.

Arranged marriages and matchmaking are part of Korea's culture...

Huh Gak, Korea's Paul Potts?

This is another long overdue post.  I've always wanted to make an article about Huh Gak, winner of the Super Stark K 2, Korea's answer or version of the American Idol.  I actually just remembered about it when I saw his song "Always" MV while eating dinner...

I love the song and the singer but not the MV... The story? We've seen this a lot of times already...

The singing contest was really very interesting.  My friend Laksmi and I would talk about it on facebook and even exchange text messages about the winners, happenings, and drama of the episodes I missed.  Back then, I didn't really pay attention to the schedule of the show.  I would just turn on the tv and look for interesting shows and I would oftentimes chance upon the show's replay or live telecast.

The grand winner of this season is Huh Gak who has a very lovable story.  At age 25, and working as a repairman to help his dad and support his brother, he gave the audition a shot.  He got in and I just remember him being paired for a part with John Park, a finalist of the latest AI season.  Eventually, they became good friends during the duration of the show and even found themselves battling it out during the finale.  John Park sings well but I can say that Huh Gak sings way better and is very deserving of the win.  With a prize money of 200 million won, a car and a chance to release an album, he's not going back to being a repairman anymore...

For the finals, I couldn't remember if they performed 2 or 3 songs but Huh Gak's version of "Always" was way better.  Their scores were based on the following: 60% real time votes via text messages, 30% judges evaluation, and 10% online votes prior the show.  It was also interesting that the judges gave their evaluation and accompanying grades after their performances.

Just right after the final episode, I tried reading so much about the show or the performances as I missed its live telecast again.  I read about him being called Korea's Paul Potts.  No, he didn't sing opera.  But he just did what he loves to or really wants to do and I just get goose bumps whenever I heard him sing...

Guy's License... + Short Korean Language Lesson ^,^

Just as forcasted, we woke up to a snow covered Gimpo.  I quite felt sad for not  seeing the snow fall though.  Currently in my third trimester, I really find it hard to sleep but I didn't bother to look outside earlier.  However, a few minutes after Alex got back from his morning jog, we were treated to a heavy yet spectacular (kkk) snow fall.  It was a wonderful sight but at the same time, it worried me that the accumulation would make the roads more dangerous for motorists, especially for Alex, I thought, who drives a "ttong-cha."

I actually never want to spill the beans but Alex is just so caught up on what "car" to buy when he gets my "nod." LOL... He couldn't contain himself that he even showed Min, Tessa's sweet husband, the catalogues and price lists we've collected.  With the fast approaching D-day of Soo Ae and the tension in the peninsula, I couldn't afford to let him get a new car yet.  I want us to have an emergency "money" just in case something happens.  Besides, I also want him to wait some more, save some more so we could get a bigger one.  I just don't know but I have the feeling that my MIL wants to reunite with us not too far soon... ㅠ__________ㅠ   Having a bigger one or more spacious one would make me feel better, really...

At first, he wanted to get a "Matiz" which I said is actually targeted for ajummas or "Morning" while I wanted us to get "Soul".  Having a small car here is very advantageous.  But frequent visits to car dealers/centers made me fall in love with the new "Forte."  I'm also wanting us to get  GM Daewoo's "Lacetti."  But having tried to drive the "Accent" from a recent trip to a Hyundai Car Center, he just couldn't stop bugging me we get one already before my Mom arrives..  Besides, it's the one we could really afford at the moment... haay...

I told him my Mom isn't the type who would laugh at our "ttong-cha." That she would appreciate him all the more when she sees we've almost completed buying SooAe's things first.

However, when he brought me to the nearest Lotte Mart the other day, my heart just went out to him as I watched him drive away with our "ttong-cha."  Yeah, just like him, the frequent trips to these car centers made our car really look like a "ttong-cha." That night, I told him we get one when we've adjusted to the new expenses and budgeting next year, maybe even before my Mom leaves for the Philippines or when nothing happens but only the best for the two Koreas for the next 5 months.

In a way, I appreciated him for saying that he really wants to buy a new car for Soo Ae's sake.  He said he wants to start anew with her arrival.  I argued though that we should buy then a bigger one, just a slightly bigger one since it will take us some time again to buy a new one.. maybe after 15 years again? hehe... We still have a few months to go.  Comparing the specs of the cars we're choosing from, they really don't have much differences. Forte is just a little bit bigger and looks more masculine or handsome to me.  It's more spacious for a family of 3 (or 4, with MIL of course).

똥 (ttong) = poop
자동차  or  차  (jadongcha  or cha) = car

34th Week Bump Wanted to be in the Picture Too

With nothing to do after our early dinner, and trying to fend off sleep, I brought out the Christmas cards we got last sunday.  I'm meaning to drop them at the post office this monday.

Since I take pictures of almost everything I do, see or buy, I tried getting a photo of the cards too...

I just found it funny that for the first time, I didn't notice how I wasn't able to get my bump away from the cards or subjects.. hahaha... I didn't really realize that the photo looked like this. Even Alex laughed at it when he saw it...

It's quite strange how time flies by so fast these days...
It's making me excited and terrifed at the same time.
The last time I had my picture taken with my bump showing (side view) was last Nov. 14...
Ah, the bump really wanted another picture... kkk....

Early December Surprise Package...

Alex is planning to get us something by 2nd quarter next year but I begged him to wait until the mid of autumn for we still need to adjust to the new or added expenses by next year.  He said I'm a "saving woman" and even "commended" me for it because last week, we were able to pay 60% of the bank loan we had just last May.  It's not that difficult actually, given that we now live in a very rural area. Haha.

But just the other night, I really complained that he's so much into searching for this thing he wants to buy that I think he already forgot that I'm still pregnant and that we are expecting Soo Ae not too far soon.  I enumerated the things we still need to buy and he immediately switched to "baby" sites.  Okay, it melted my heart when he showed me the bath tub he was going to order by monday.

Yesterday morning though, I received a call from a delivery man and was so puzzled since I'm actually expecting a package from the Philippines but it won't arrive yet until maybe end of next week.  Just an hour later, the man buzzed already and upon opening the door, he immediately handed me this one: (Yeah, shopping site delivery men are always in a hurry. It's like they can't wait to get away from you, LOL... It's actually so they could immediately get to the next waiting customer. Very efficient guys...)

So big yet so light....  I was so surprised that it was really mailed to me.  Usually, Alex buys things under his name so after trying to remember all the happenings for the past few days, I already had a clue from whom it was....

And when I opened it, I got a little confused again actually...

That's because Alex was also wanting to buy an ivory-colored bath tub... But he's a.m. shift and that there's no way for him to go to the bank to pay for his orders online.. Yeah, he's hard-headed. I've been telling him time and time again to enroll his NH account for internet banking but he just wouldn't concede.

I immediately called him and told him about the package.  From his reaction, I finally confirmed that these lovely stuffs indeed came from ate Betchay of buhaykorea.com because last wednesday, she actually asked me if do we already have a bath tub for Soo Ae.  I didn't expect that she'd actually get us one...

Thank you very much Ate Betchay...

You crossed 3 things out of my TTB list in one day...

No 2022 Worldcup Hosting for Korea

Unable to catch sleep, I again went out of our bedroom to do something
with my Braxton-Hicks contractions.
I turned on our TV and tuned in to CNN.
I was just in time for the announcment of the 2022 Worldcup host.

FIFA's executive committee chose QATAR to host the 2022 Worldcup
over USA, Japan, South Korea, etc.

On the same day, btw,
2018 Worldcup hosting was awarded to RUSSIA,
I think that Korea didn't make a bid here.

The 2014 Worldcup will be hosted by BRAZIL..
Oh, what a worldcup it would be..

But I'm wondering what kind of reaction will the Korean
netizens make again for being not chosen.
I still can remember how outraged they were during the 2010
match against Argentina.
Even the students at the academy were begging me to
join them in requesting for a re-match.
LOL...

Chasing Autumn 2010 at Damyang, Jeollanam-do (South Jeolla Province)

From Jeollabuk-do's Naejangsan, we drove straight to Damyang, Jeollanamdo.
I actually dozed off while hubby was driving.
He just tried to touch me lightly and I instantly woke up and was greeted by this sight.
This is the metasequoia forest road.
The view might remind you of Korean dramas you might have already seen..
Oh, tourists could rent bikes they could use inside the inner road
but we just left after getting the picture below as I was still
tired from our long walk at Naejangsan.
I was also reserving my energy for the next spot.

Not too far away is the Bamboo Forest,
a favorite location of Korean Movie producers.
I think a scene for Lee Jun Ki's Il-Jimae was also taken here.
The Bamboo Forest Gallery.
I just found the prices outrageous, kkkk...
You can taste their bamboo flavored ice cream. Not for free.
There's also a coffee shop at the upper floor for those who want to get warm or chill out.
What I loved most about the forest is the cool refreshing air,
the sound of the leaves against the wind,
and this yellow earth road.
We tried following a path leading to a "bamboo village experience"
only to come to a deadend.
It irritated me a lot, really.
I was already so hungry and tired but we had no choice.
So we walked back to the main entrance and immediately headed to the parking area
and line of restaurants.
We entered the most inviting one. I really wanted to try their featured dishes shown on arirang tv.
One order of the dish costs 10,000won.
But as always around the area, we had to order for 2.
We couldn't have different dishes at a time.
We couldn't order a very elaborate one as I'm suffering from heart burn.
Husband also complains about me forcing him to eat much, kkk
I expected a lot from this one as we were promised 18 side dishes.
Again, I was a bit disappointed.
The stew was served late. So I thought maybe it'd be a special one, aside from the rice, of course.
But guess what it was, doenjang jiggae!!! Inayan!!!
This rice might remind you of a Dae Jang Geum scene.
It's delicious but the bamboo shoots side dish was blah.
I expected so much from the restaurant.
I told Alex we have a better and really delicious way of cooking bamboo shoots.

Just across the bamboo forest is the Gwanbang Jerim riverbank protection forest.
Trees were planted along the Damyang river during the Joseon dynasty period to protect the villages
that suffered a series of annual floods.
The 1.2km section boasts of trees aged over 200 years.
Again, tourists can hire bikes here...

Next, we headed to what I believed was a Queen Seon Dook episode shoot location.
It's the place where they took the scene when Seon Dook was supposed to meet up with Bidam.
It was a beautiful scene/sight..
I couldn't remember anymore what actuallysurrounded the place.
They were either spring blossoms or autumn leaves.
When we reached the parking lot, we were were told that it would take us
about 30-40 minutes to get to the spot.
We'd already paid for entrance fees but Alex thought the long walk
going back and forth would be too much for me.
We sadly left the place....

From the navigation, he finally saw the site for the bamboo village experience.
We went back, drove again for another 30mins.
Good thing that on our way there, we met some participants for a "run" joined by
locals and foreigners alike...
 because upon reaching the site, we were only greeted by this...
Still under completion....
The woman at the ticket booth told us there's nothing much to see except the gazebos....
and yet they were asking for 2,000 (or 2,500) won entrance fees already.. grrr...
We also just took this picture and left immediately.

Not too far away was this Myeongnangjeong Pavilion.
An official, Son Sun (1493-1582) built it after retiring from his post.
It's a histoical place where he discussed national affairs, studied with
and taught many popular scholars.

After this, husband and I had a heated discussion.
That's because we were supposed to head to Boseong green tea fields further south.
But he saw a great place in Jeollabukdo from a toursim info site the day before
and changed his mind.
He promised to bring me to Boseong
but he insisted I'd appreciate the place he'd take me to the following day very much...

So we headed back to Jeollabukdo (North Jeolla Province).
I was painfully scratching it on his face that I was very disappointed.
So he stopped the car here and bought me persimmons...
and when he saw me smile, he asked me to accompany him down here...
It's his favorite view: mountain and water...
Although we encountered disappointments with the other sites
we wanted to see, we still had a good day at Jeollanamdo.
The travel was quite long.. So I know
it would be just a dream again for me to see the Boseong green tea fields.
It would be just a "field" or "plantation" for some
but I used to drink green tea a lot before getting pregnant
And there's so much more to experience there
for green tea lovers like me
ohter than just looking at the fields and taking pictures...
LOL

Lucky Bettor Wins $16M Philippines' Lottery Jackpot

A lucky bettor from Luzon won the $16M lottery jackpot last Sunday.

Manila (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN) - The losing spell in the Philippines' Grand Lotto 6/55 has ended with an extremely lucky bettor from Luzon region bagging the P741-million (US$16.87 million) jackpot by betting on the winning combination 11-16-42-47-31-37.

Lottery gods must have smiled on Monday night because someone beat the 1-in-29 million odds, a feat that had proved elusive for at least six months since this streak began.

The jackpot at P741 million was the biggest in the country's history.

Liza Gabuyo, PCSO assistant general manager, said the bettor picked the combination, standing to win the pot tax free.

It took 86 draws before a bettor won the jackpot.

The previous biggest jackpot was posted in February 2009, when the pot for the 6/49 Super Lotto game reached P347 million ($7.83 million) . Two lucky bettors picked the same combination to split the top prize.

Oh, if you were him/her, what would you do with such huge amount of money?

It's the 1st of December.. Waaaah!!!  The winner's family will definitely have a grand Christmas and will surely have a blessed New Year.. I hope they'll manage their wealth well...
